Where And How Is Bioinformatics Currently Being Used

As previously mentioned, currently bioinformatics is being used primarily to study genomics and proteomics which has led to many groundbreaking discoveries in previous years. In the 2000s, it was announced that the entirety of the human genome had been mapped out by a few scientists who utilized computer systems, statistics, and biological data, to produce the first-ever complete human genome. Another achievement made in the 2000s era was when scientists were able to complete the whole genome sequence of many different animals found on our planet. These impressive achievements had been a result of the progression of bioinformatics in recent years, greatly demonstrating how scientists can utilize the extracted data from the computer system to make groundbreaking discoveries such as those previously mentioned. Due to the accomplishment of mapping the entire human genome, studies have commenced focusing more on the gene products and it's resulting proteins and the role the proteins serve. This field of study primarily focuses on the analysis of genomics however in current days scientists must manually input all the numbers and variables of the gene into the computer's automated system to produce an outcome hence making it very time-consuming. As a result, scientists across the globe are currently envisioning on creating a global database of the population's genetics, which any certified analyst or scientist can access for their personal projects involving experimenting or studying specific genes. At the moment there are several private companies who offer a high-class genetic database of several million people however it is currently not widespread and mainstream. With this vision of a global database of the population's genetics from many scientists come many ethical problems, as many in the general population oppose this idea of letting their genetics be encompassed in this global database, and so this caused many individuals and companies in the bioinformatics community to face backlash and trauma from the public for violating their right of privacy. Currently, bioinformatics is being heavily utilized in relation to biological computation to produce more accurate results as the biological computation focuses on using bioengineering to produce smarter and better computers and algorithms, while bioinformatics uses the results produced by the computers to gain a better grasp on the entire understanding of the DNA structure, protein sequences, and RNA structure. The study of bioinformatics is renowned for being a very complex field of study and requires much-needed patience as the scientists across the globe involved in bioinformatics are known for working in lab's and utilizing leisurely ran computer systems for the majority of their day, resulting in many, working overtime hours due to the time of which it takes to manually input all the biological data into the computer systems. All things considered, the bioinformatics field has many different uses in our current day society and provides many benefits towards understanding organisms' genomes and proteomes structure.
